Dirty Gold

“Overboard”

San Diego’s Dirty Gold released the ROAR EP yesterday and it’s pretty solid.  Overboard reaches out to you and grabs you in the warm blanket…I really dig this track immediately…kinda way.  Maybe not the most original sound, but still well executed and a totally relaxing way to spend a few minutes escaping from this continued shitty NYC spring.  I certainly need “some summer sun to come and wake me up” -California Sunrise

“Coastin”

I posted Black Box a few weeks back and have been sitting on this gem for a second.  I love the laid back yet aggressive vibe.  It’s street soul.  Get it.

TV Girl

“Benny and the Jetts”

San Diego strikes again!  I have been loving on TV Girl’s new Benny and The Jets EP.

While slicing up breakbeats over some classic soul and R&B isn’t new, Benny comes off pretty fresh, fun, and super listenable.  You can snag the EP for free just in time for the weekend.

Strange Rivals

“French Pussy”

If I was going to fall backwards off a building in slow-motion for four minutes, I think I would like this to be the track people are listening to as I slow motion crab at things in the air.

You can get this track and the rest of Strange Rivals new psychedelic EP over at bandcamp and you probably don’t even need to fall off a buidling.

Grandparents

“Arrows”

Last week, Portland, OR’s Grandparents released their Fumes EP.  It’s a gorgeous psychedelic sprawl of dreamy americana shoegaze.  It grabs you right off the bat with the opener “Arrows” and keeps you glued to the last moment of “Golden Isles”.

Yeah…I’m a fan.  Defintiley the best EP I have heard in this young year.  Also, if their bandcamp page is to be believed and they really recorded this whole record on a Tascam Portastudio 488  MkII, then I am truly blown away. Get some.

Decks

“Ghost Girl”

I know nothing about this New Jersey band Decks.  But I do know that I am diggin this lo-fi psych-pop, Ariel Pink-esq Helix Street EP of theirs that I found on bandcamp.  Get it.

We Miss The Earth

“Matthew Edwards”

Portland Oregon trio We Miss The Earth are bringing the blown out shoegazey-ness on the four unmastered tracks they have posted from their forth coming LP, Walking Nervous.  It’s a gloriously over-saturated sound bomb. Check it.

Young Heel

“Falls”

For some reason, I kinda tried not to like this but it got under my skin and wouldn’t go away.

So you can relax to this super comfy electro yacht-rock jam from Brooklyn’s Young Heel while I continue doing a terrible job at being over anything even vaguely chillwave.  Get their debut EP Falls over at bandcamp.

Lucius

“Don’t Just Sit There”

An engineer friend of mine tipped me off to the beautiful vocals of Brookyln four-piece Lucius last week and I have been blissin’ out to the catchy lead single ever since.

You should grab their self-titled EP off their website and be sure to check them out this week during SXSW.  They are sure to generate some buzz.

World Tour

“Believe”

Caught this this early 90’s tropical slow-builder over at Pasta Primavera the other day, (who you should follow if you don’t), and have been spinning it all week.

I am really digging what they are doing over at World Tour’s label Cascine, who will release the Believe EP on April 10th.

“Ivory Coast”

Excited for this release.

yvynyl:

This dreamy single from Portland duo Daniel Hindman and Sarah Versprille is hittin’ the spot right now. Gauzy white sunshine and pastel blossoms. You didn’t know you needed an anthem for springtime, did you?

Their brand new self-titled EP comes out on May 22nd on Father/Daughter Records - you can pre-order the vinyl right here.

Capital Cities

“Kangaroo Court”

The slick-pop song crafters from L.A. ride out again with their new single “Kangaroo Court”.  It dropped late this March on their own Lazy Hooks label.

To me these guys really understand their sound, the place they are writing from, and where they want to go.  I think they are only gonna get better.

Check out the sweet remix Shook did for the track as well.
