Check out this indie hip-hop remix project from Asheville, NC native Shane Conerty’s Leann Grimes.  Inspired and created with the music he found on music blogs, he crafts some pretty interesting arrangements with some pretty popular tracks from blog/mainstream a-listers like Deerhunter, The Strokes, CAKE, Dr. Dog, and The Morning Benders to name a few.  All the tracks are pretty up beat, short, and fun. This came out at the end of last summer but it’s amazing how great it sounds this summer! Its almost like not being brand new has no effect on it!  Crazy. 

Anyway, “Julius” is great way to get pumped for the weekend, cause it’s July and if you can not get pumped for a July weekend, then you may have some issues, in which case this track should still help.

First off, the original version of this track is awesome.  Secondly, this is a remix but it’s more like a complete re-imagining.  I love the chopped up verse melody as a hook.  That Knight Rider vibe is murder.   Check out Clock Opera, though they kinda sound nothing like this remix, which thirdly, is pretty rad.
