Lotte Kestner

“True Faith” (New Order Cover)

Love this.

Here is the OG version.

Check out danceyrselfclean, great blog

Lotte Kestner, True Faith (New Order cover found on her fantastic covers album “Stolen”)

Really Lotte Kestner has so won me over and I’m pretty certain she can sing her order at a Chinese restaurant and I’d want to play it on repeat.  I definitely would love to hear her duet with Matt Berniger, her version of “Fake Empire” is pretty epic and well she can do some New Order like the best of them too.  ”True Faith” sounds damn great with Lotte at the covering helm.  Seriously check this one out!

Here is my first post for Photo Synth.

1. I fuckin love this song

2. follow this blog, it’s dope.

Active Child

“Hanging On”

This track has been kicking around the internet for a week or so and its pretty damn immediate.  It dug deep into my chest and swayed me back and forth until I gave up, which was quickly.

Get the free track from Active Child’s forthcoming LP, You Are All I See, as part of the Adult Swim Singles Program here.

M83

“Midnight City”

M83 stay ahead of the curve once again with the first single off the new LP Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.  One of the things I have always loved about M83 is that their music feels so authentically of a time past, yet so new.  It’s nostalgia, but for the future; a longing for the return of a time that has not yet happened.  Also, I may have briefly been in one of their videos.

Head on over to their website to grab the single for the price of your email.

Chairlift

“Amanaemonesia”

Easily one of the best tracks from the past week has been the limited edition 7” single from Chairlift being released by Terrible Records on August 16th.

“Amanaemonesia” is fun.  Despite dipping into to some of the best of the 80’s sound palette as well moments from fellow NYC pop-psych explorers MGMT and Yeasayer’s playbook, the song still sounds fresh and unique.  Oh yeah, it’s also catchy as hell.

St. Vincent

“Surgeon”

I’m a big fan of Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent.  I actually am a fan of music that works the pop idiom and stretches out interestingly while sounding fresh without being pretentious or nonsensically clever.  So yeah, I am a big fan of St. Vincent.

This is the first single of her new record Strange Mercy, releasing September 13th on 4AD

This track from Swiss group Silver Firs is perfect for the NYC weather today, blustery and clear with the hopefulness of spring.  Grab the single over at bandcamp and check out more over at Oh, Sister Records.
